Some Basic Guidance for Prayer

Be succinct when in prayer. G-d may have infinite strength yet consider it is better if He does not have to use such strength in order to understand you.
Prayer: Dear G-d, I pray for Jeff. Amen.
Who is Jeff? G-d is not reading your mind, so He doesn’t know what you are talking about (unless maybe you just saw Jeff on the television or something, in which case there is a connection to the correct Jeff that exists outside your mind).
Better Prayer: Dear G-d, I pray for Jeff, the business leader. Amen.
Even Better: Dear G-d, I pray for Jeff Bezos, born January 12th, who founded Amazon in the late 1990s. Amen.
Pray as many times as you feel you should, yet be succinct in your prayer. Remember Moses prayed 515 times to be guided to the Holy Land.
Also, consider the Law of Attraction when you pray. Stay positive with your words and be grateful even for what you are yet to have.
Prayer: Thank you for the extra money.
Prayer: Thank you for Jeff’s healing.
Prayer: Thank you for our health.
Thank the universe for the state of being you want to be in. For example, if you are struggling with chronic pain or illness, consider how thanking the universe for your health is better than thanking the universe for bringing you back to health.
Prayer: Thank you for bringing me back to health. Amen.
Better Prayer: Thank you for my health. Amen.
It is better to pray this way because this is the state of being you are asking to be in. If you are not careful in your prayers, you may inadvertently be asking G-d to put you between health and illness, and the same goes for anything else, such as debt.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for bringing me out of debt. Amen.
Better Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for the extra money. Amen.
With the first prayer you could be asking to be in a long-lasting state of debt recovery. The second prayer is better.
Consider that G-d can probably read your thoughts, but rarely does. G-d gave humanity Free Will. He made us into miniature versions of Him, so it follows that He does not constantly read our thoughts.
Therefore, G-d doesn’t generally listen to mental prayers (ones you say to yourself in your head). He doesn’t look there, as I just said, because he gave that domain to us, as beings with Free Will.
Pray out loud. Write your prayers down. Leave a mark on the universe somehow. Etch your prayer into a stone tablet! Then it will last a long time and it will be part of the universe, rather than just in your mind. This way your prayer is more likely to be heard.
While G-d may have infinite strength you should take caution in requiring Him to use such strength in order to hear you (and therefore answer your prayer).
